Members

Members are the people or companies that participate in your program. They form the community that you want to incentivize. You can target and motivate groups of members within your community using segments and levels. Upon completing incentives, members can earn points, which can later be redeemed for rewards, as well as instant rewards and badges.

Membership

Using Salesforce's account and contact structure as a basis, IAS' membership model represents how individuals, companies and associates interact in a program.

Membership Types

IAS includes three types of membership:

• Individual Members represent a physical person related to a Salesforce contact or a person account. Individual Members operate independently: they can earn their own points, get rewards and hold badges.

When should I use Individual Members?

If your goal is to incentivize physical persons or sole proprietors, use Individual Members.

• Organization Members are organizations or companies. They may have associated Organization Contributors, whose actions contribute to the organization member's performance. Organization members are always linked to Salesforce accounts. Like individual members, organization members also have their own points, get rewards and hold badges.

When should I use Organization Members?

Organization Members can be used to incentivize companies, households or any other legal entities.

• Organization Contributor Members are the people connected to an organization member. In most cases, they represent companies' employees or household members. An organization contributor is related to a Salesforce contact, which, in turn, is associated with the Salesforce account linked to the organization member. Organization contributors do not have points of their own, as all the actions they perform contribute to the organization member they are linked to. However, for incentives that offer instant rewards and/or badges, contributors can be rewarded in the same way as individual members.

When should I use Organization Contributor Members?

Go for Organization Contributor Members when you'd like to have members collaborate toward common organizational goals.

Currently, Organization Members and Organization Contributor Members cannot be edited or deleted.

How Organization Members and Contributors Work Together

Organization Members and Organization Contributor Members work together to model the relationship between a company and its employees. When Organization Contributor Members earn points, those points go directly to the Organization Member.

Only the Organization Member and any Organization Contributor Members you set as manager can redeem Points. You can, however, encourage Organization Contributor Members directly through Badges and Instant Rewards.

Rewarding Organizations and Contributors Together

You may encounter a situation where you'd like both an Organization Member and its contributors to earn points when performing Actions. In such a case, you can create Individual Members associated with an Account that is also registered as an Organization Member in the same program.

Then, when setting up the Actions you'll incentivize, you can check both Members and Members:OrganizationMembers. This way, each time a contributor performs an incentivized action, both the individual and organization are rewarded simultaneously.
