Planning Your Program

Planning your first incentive or loyalty program might seem daunting, but it's really very easy to break down into manageable pieces. Let's buckle up and set out on our Fielo journey!

1. Who are in my community of members?

Begin by determining who will participate in your program.

  • If you have different groups that vary significantly, or subject to very different business rules, consider creating multiple programs.
  • If you have groups that are generally similar, but with some variations, consider a single program that uses segmentation.
📘

What's the difference between programs and segments?

Programs are totally self-contained. They have their own members, incentives, levels and point balances.

Segments, meanwhile, are subgroups of members in a program. Use them to target your incentives, rewards, email campaigns, etc. to specific audiences.

2. How are my members related to one another?

  • Will they earn points individually? If so, create Individual Members.
  • Will they earn points on behalf of their company? Then create Organization Contributors and have them associated with their Organizations.
  • Will they earn points both for themselves and on behalf of their company? In that case, you'll create Individual Members and associate them to Organizations.

For details, see Membership.

3. What Do I Want My Members to Do?

Fielo incentives reward members for performing specific actions. Behavior are always related to a Salesforce object.

  • Use promotions to reward on every action performed. Optionally, use points caps or rewards caps to limit how many points or instant rewards a member can earn.
  • Use challenges to reward only after a series of actions.

For more info, check out How Incentives Work.

4. How Will I Motivate My Members?

Think about what you will give your members when they participate in incentives.

  • Points: You can award your members one or more types of points. Remember, points are only interesting if they unlock serious benefits or are redeemable for desirable rewards!
  • Instant Rewards: Give your members a timely reason to celebrate their accomplishments.
  • Badges: Public recognition is a powerful motivator. As with points, decide what benefits will be associated with each badge—this could be as simple as letting members show their peers who's boss!

Rewarding Partners

Fielo is compatible with external providers like GRS.

You can also think about strategies to keep your members coming back, such as:

  • using levels to differentiate members by performance criteria, such as points history.
  • adding leaderboards to missions in order to nudge members toward more intense participation in the incentive.

5. How Will My Members Access and Participate in the Program?

You want to make sure your members see your program's best face. Here are the most common options for a incentive or loyalty portal:

No matter what you choose, think about how Fielo features will interact with the rest of your site or app for a seamless member experience.
